Garvin (they/them) is a Chicago based actor most recently seen understudying “Jason” in The Gift Theatre’s production of Cygnus. Other understudy credits include the role of “Elmer” in About Face Theatre’s production of Lavender Men and Hippolito and Guardiano in Blue in the Right Way’s production of Women Beware Women.

Garvin made their Chicago debut in 2022 as “Kazimir Malevich” in the world premiere production of Chagall in School, directed by Georgette Verdin and written by James Sherman. Stepping into the role one week before tech rehearsals started, Garvin’s performance was described as being “played with unstinting fervor,” (chicagostageandscreen.com) and “a powerful performance,” (aroundthetownchicago.com) with their big moment in the show described as “a highlight of the play,” (thirdcoastreview.com).

Shortly after Chagall in School closed, Garvin was asked the day before shooting started to step in for a lead role in a short film produced by SSZ Film, and then in November 2023 was again asked to step in for the role of “The Conductor” in Rail Events Productions The Polar Express Train Ride, receiving the script the same day rehearsals started. If you need a pinch hitter, Garvin is the person for you.

In addition to acting, Garvin is passionate about playwriting and devised work, and is a founding member of Municipal Hole Company, where they performed in 36 Monologues About Urban Planning (to be performed in a cul-de-sac) written and directed by Grey Smith at the Neo-Futurarium in September 2023. In August 2025, Your Local Drama Club, another company Garvin is a co-founder of, will be presenting the world premiere of poolside, written and performed by Garvin.
